Indulge yourself with silky milk baths, delight in beautiful bath oils, Pamper your skin with cleansing body scrubs, spice up your bathing experience with refreshing bath salts and bombs all made at home by you.
Making homemade bath products is a lot simpler then many of us first realise, a great way to save money, with most of the ingredients needed able to be found in most local supermarkets or pharmacies( if not already in your pantry) making it a fantastic option for those of us concerned with using natural products and the bottom dollar
Homemade milk bath
Milk baths were made historically famous by Cleopatra, the properties of milk are thought to aid in dissolve dead skin cells, and considering Cleopatra’s renown beauty and the smoothing effect it has on the skin I am inclined to believe the hype, try some of the recipes below for simple milk baths to enhance your bathing experience
Lavender Milk bath
I cup of powdered milk
2-3 drops of lavender oil
Step one. In a small bowl mix the ingredients before adding to your bath.
Step two. For a nice touch of luxury add lavender leaves or flower petals to the water of your bath.
Note this recipe can easily be adapted with the use of different oils
Vanilla milk bath
2 cups of powdered milk
1 cup of corn-starch (or cornflour)
10 drops of vanilla pure essential oil
Step one. Using a wire whisk or metal knife, mix the powdered milk and corn-starch together until it seems to be the same colour
Step two. Still stirring add the vanilla oil until well combined
Step three. Store in an airtight sterilized bottle or container,
Note. Another recipe that would make a great gift idea, for friends and family.
Milk bath
1 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup Epsom salts
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon corn-starch
2 to 3 drops of your chosen essential oil
Step one. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl adding the oil last
Step two. Store in an airtight waterproof container,
Step three. Uses… add two tablespoons or more table spoons to your bath and relax.
Luxurious milk bath
2 cups powdered milk (dry)
1 Tablespoons of dried orange peel
2 Teaspoons of dried lavender flowers
2 Teaspoons of dried rosemary
Step one. In a mixing bowl combine all the above ingredients thoroughly
Step Two. Pour into chosen airtight container, (A glass bottle is perfect for this if you have one)
Step three. Use… Pour ½ cup into a full bath and enjoy
Note, this also makes a great gift idea
Homemade Bath oil
Bath oils have been used for thousands of years, its use recorded thought out history all over the globe from early biblical times, to ancient china and Egypt just to name a few.
In today’s age we have so many oils from all over the world that there is sure to be something for everyone, so try out the following simple recipes for making your own bath oils
Honey bath oil
This is for a single use only
1 cup of honey
2 cups of milk
I cup of sea salt (or cooking salt)
4 tablespoons of baking soda
15ml of baby oil
Step one. In a mixing bowl stir the honey, milk, salt and baking soda together pour into a warm bath
Step two. Add the 15ml of baby oil to the bath and stir well before you enjoy this smoothing soak.
Honey and vanilla bath oil
Keep in a cool place
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
½ cup honey
½ cup shampoo (preferably unscented)
1 cup light oil, such as baby oil or mineral oil
Step one. Pour all ingredients into a glass bottle or jar and shake until well combined,
Step two. Uses… pour as much as you like into your bath or massage into the skin during a shower.
Homemade body scrub
Using a body scrub is a great way to remove dead skin cells, cleanse and refresh you skin leaving it silky smooth and smelling great, try some of these homemade body scrubs made with simple ingredients and you may be happily surprised with the results
Brown sugar body scrub
Keep cool until ready to use
1 ½ cups of brown sugar
½ cup of olive oil
¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
Step one. Pack the brown sugar into a mixing bowl, pouring the olive oil over it slowly, using spoon press oil into sugar until it makes a paste
Step two. Sprinkle the vanilla extract over your paste for a refreshing scent
Step three. Use…gather into your palm and massage over your skin, not to be used on the face, over broken skin or hair.
Great to help make your skin softer and give it that healthy glow
Cocoa body scrub
Can store up to six months, in a waterproof tight container,
2 tablespoons of olive oil
½ tablespoon of cocoa powder
1 cup of brown sugar
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
½ cup of sugar
Step one. In one bowl mix all the ingredients thoroughly together then store in a water proof container
Step two. Use…scrub all over your body while in the bath (or shower) for wonderfully smooth scented skin.
Note to remember, if moisture gets into the container the mixture is should be considered ruined due to growing bacteria
Scented salt body scrub
2 cups Epsom salts
1-2 drops of food colouring
1-2 drops of fragrance or essential oil
2 tablespoons of baby oil
Step one. Mix together in a large bowl and store in an air tight bottle.
Step two. Use… Massage into the skin in the bath (or shower) using as little or as much as you like
Note this recipe is very adaptable with colours and different scents making a great gift idea for friends and family members.
Basic salt body scrub
½ cup of olive oil
2-3 Tablespoons of sea salt (although regular salt will suffice)
Step one. Mix together in a small bowl
Step two. Massage into the skin in the bath or shower, the salt will clear away the dead skin cells while the oil will moisture.
Note. Not to be used more then 2-3 times a week as it can dry out the skin when overused.
Homemade Bath salts

Easy bath salt recipe
I cup of Epsom salt
7 drops of essential oil
7-10 drops of colour (food colour will work nicely)
Step one. Mix together the Epsom salt and your chosen oil; stir until there are no clumps
Step two. Stir in your colour until nicely blended
Step three. Spread out on baking paper and leave to dry for a few hours, once dry place into an airtight container.
Note when using essential oils, skin irritation can occur if too much oil is used in a recipe

I'm a bathing freak, I can NEVER get out of a tub fast, I always say oh yes just 10 minutes but always has to be like an 1/2 hour thing, well I have a hyper kid so I need it.
